IUCN China launched the Chinese version of “Conservation for a New Era” on April 20, 2010. The event was attend by IUCN Head of Science and Learning Unit Dr. Sue Mainka, IUCN Councilor Dr. Ma Keping, and Friends of Nature Chairman Professor Yang Dong Ping.




In Conservation for a New Era, authors Jeffrey McNeely and Susan Mainka have compiled a broad and informative overview o Not only have ecosystems and societies changed profoundly in recent years, but the way they are viewed by scientists, policymakers, and people in every social stratum and economic field has been significantly altered. This book offers a look into the prevailing trends in nature, society, and interactions between the two, and how a new approach to conservation—born within the maelstrom of risks and opportunities of the globalization era—can and must bring the needs of each into balance and cooperation with the other.llenges and strategies for biodiversity conservation worldwide. The book looks to encapsulate the most essential qualities of conservation issues, while also taking into consideration the views of its diverse membership and the latest fieldwork on conservation.
